How Acupuncture Can Help You

Acupuncture has been used as a successful healing practice in the east for over three millenniums! In the west, acupuncture has become one of the most researched natural healthcare systems. Studies have shown acupuncture to be successful in treating chronic illness, joint pain, muscle pain, sports injuries, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, sleep issues, psychologically disorders, immune deficiencies or excesses, and respiratory issues, to name a few. Acupuncture is clinically proven treatment for recovery from all types of addictions, including nicotine to opioids. Many parents are able to thank acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for addressing their fertility issues. Women can find benefits from acupuncture for health issues such as PMS, irregular periods, menopause, fibroids and cysts. At Lakewood Community Acupuncture, we thrive in treating all these conditions and more. Give us a call, or book an appointment online, and find out how we can help you too.

Electrical Stimulation

Electric stimulation, abbreviated as eStim, is a continuous electric pulse that can be added to acupuncture needles to stimulate acupuncture points more powerfully. This allows injuries to heal faster and is helpful for neurological disorders, and as a pain reliever for muscle spasms and nerve issues (such as sciatica). Do not use estim if you have a history of seizures, epilepsy, heart disease, strokes or a pacemaker.

Motor Point eStim

Motor Point eStim is a muscle-specific electrical stimulation treatment where the injured muscles are isolated, needled into the motor point—where the nerves that control contraction innervate the muscle—and stimulated with an electrical current to cause the muscles to jump in rhythmic contractions and then relax. Motor point stimulation releases tight muscles and knots, strengthens the injured muscle, increases range of motion, and reduces pain.

Semi-Permanent Ear Needles

Semi-permanent ear needles  are a way to bring acupuncture home with you. We have 3 different options, ear seeds, ear tacts and semi-permanent ear needles (SPN). Ear seeds are the gentlest and do not penetrate the skin, ear tacts have a small needle that penetrates just into the skin, and then the strongest of the three, SPN, which anchor into the ear. Ear needles allow the actions of acupuncture to last longer and are especially good for stress and addiction, but can also increase the efficacy of pain treatments and many other conditions.

Emily helped me combat some pretty deep depression and anxiety yesterday. I had come to my wits end and western med was no longer helping me. She recommended herbs that are significantly decreasing the debilitating mental health symptoms I was experiencing and her treatment of acupuncture/reiki helped calm my nervous system. I’m noticing this all in less than 24 hrs, wow! THANK YOU 🙏

I received a healing treatment from Crystal yesterday and the day before— acupuncture and cupping, along with ear seeds. She was so attentive and deeply caring for my personal needs and desires. I genuinely cannot wait to go back. Truly, it is honorable they are a non-profit organization for all the hard work and hours they put in. I will always go back. Thanks to the hardworking (shen) hands of Crystal.

Brought in my 15 year old who was suffering from a sports related back injury. She has had two appointments (acupuncture and acupuncture with cupping) and has been experiencing good results. The healthcare team is extremely knowledgeable and comforting. They explain everything they are doing and ensure you are comfortable with every step. Would definitely recommend.

I've been to other acupuncturists before, and Emily @ Lakewood did a fantastic job - way better than the others I've been to. Very thorough on intake, learning what to focus, and overall creating a great space. Thanks so much!

Amazing practitioners who are dedicated to serving the community with powerful healing! Each session is greeted with compassion and incredible care. I came to the office experiencing a lot of pain in my back and neck. The day after receiving Tuina bodywork and Acupuncture, my pain was gone. I am so very grateful. Thank you!!
