How Acupuncture Can Help You!
Acupuncture has been researched for decades now. Studies have shown success treating chronic illness, joint pain, muscle pain, sports injuries, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, sleep issues, psychologically disorders, immune deficiencies or excesses and respiratory issues. Acupuncture is very effective for all of these conditions and more. We have a clinically proven acupuncture protocol for addiction recovery treating all types of addictions from nicotine to opioids along with an effective weight loss protocol. Many parents are able to thank acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine for addressing their fertility issues. Women can find benefits from acupuncture for women’s health issues such as PMS, irregular periods, menopause, fibroids and cysts. We also love helping healthy people continue to stay strong with a health maintenance and preventative health program.
What is Community Acupuncture?
Community Acupuncture is a national and international model for low cost, accessible and inclusive acupuncture. Our unique nonprofit design allows our clinic to offer quality acupuncture services at approximately ⅓ the cost of full price private acupuncture sessions. This makes acupuncture available to most income levels and reduces the financial stress for those who need regularly acupuncture treatments.
What to Expect in a Community Acupuncture Treatment
The main treatment room allows for multiple treatment tables and/or chairs to be set up in the same room. This community experience allows patients to relax while receiving an acupuncture treatment in a healthy, healing environment with others.
This healthcare model is used within the hospitals and clinics in China to allow treatments to be more easily available for patients in need of healthcare. An acupuncturist can treat approximately six people per hour with this model. We chose this model to truly embrace Eastern medicine and help as much of the community as we can, at an affordable price.
Within an acupuncture session, adjunctive and complementary therapies may be used. Some other therapies we offer include eStim, cupping, guasha, ear seeds, tuina bodywork, herbal and nutritional medicinals and supplements.

* eStim (electrical stimulation): Electric stimulation, abbreviated as eStim, is a continuous electric pulse that can be added to acupuncture needles to stimulate acupuncture points more powerfully. This allows injuries to heal faster and is helpful for neurological disorders, and as a pain reliever for muscle spasms and nerve issues (such as sciatica). DO NOT USE E-STIM if you have a history of seizures, epilepsy, heart disease, strokes or a pacemaker.
**Motor Point eStim (electrical stimulation): Motor Point eStim is a muscle-specific electrical stimulation treatment, where the injured muscles are isolated and needled into the motor point (where the nerves that control contraction innervate the muscle) and stimulated with an electrical current to cause the muscles to jump in rhythmic contractions and then relax. This releases tight muscles and knots.
***Semi-Permanent Ear Needles: Ear needles are a way to bring acupuncture home with you. We have 3 different options, ear seeds, ear tacts and semi-permanent ear needles (SPN). Ear seeds are the gentlest and do not penetrate the skin, ear tacts have a small needle that penetrates just into the skin, and then the strongest of the three, SPN, which anchor into the ear. Ear needles allow the actions of acupuncture to last longer and are especially good for stress and addiction, but can also increase the efficacy of pain treatments and many other conditions.
I love coming to Lakewood Community Acupuncture. Crystal is is amazing at what she does and such a skilled educator. I got the Tuina and Acupuncture and love the bodywork. My shoulder was hurting prior to my session and felt so much better afterwards. Thank you, Crystal!
I’m so happy that Lakewood Community Acupuncture has opened. I have had a few appointments that have relieved pain and stress. The are both knowledgeable in this profession, I would see either them. Of course for chronic pain it is maintenance without the pain meds. I will continue to come here for treatment.
It's so nice to find an affordable but knowledgeable team. I am happy I found Lakewood Community Acupuncture! I would recommend them to anyone.
