How Cupping Can Benefit You
Cupping is an amazing and unique therapeutic approach to healing that can often dramatically reduce most types of pain such as back, neck and knee pain, chronic and acute. This valuable healing modality is also used to treat common colds and has been practiced as an effective traditional medicine throughout history from China to Argentina for thousands of years! If you have any pain at all, this therapeutic technique will be one of your favorite tools for relief. Once you try it, you’ll understand why cupping is utilized in so many cultures throughout the globe.
What is Cupping?
Cupping is the use of small glass, plastic or bamboo cups/jars as suction devices that are placed on the skin. This suction, or negative pressure draws oxygen rich blood to the local area, while breaking up adhesions, stretching fascia and tissue and is effective for many types of painful conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Cups can also serve as a non needle approach to stimulating acupuncture points for those sensitive to needles.

A Practitioner’s Personal Story . . .
“Cupping is one of my favorite treatments to get on a regular basis, together or separate from an acupuncture treatment. I love cupping so much that I have trained my wife, Kate, in this fantastic therapy technique so that I can get a treatment anytime (because she is so awesome). I find that whenever I have back pain, applying cups instantly offers significant relief and afterwards I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and pain free. Another benefit that surprised me when I first received cupping many years ago, was how much it induced a peaceful and relaxed, almost blissful emotional experience. Now I understand that the ability for this modality to stretch fascia, a fibrous network throughout our entire body, combined with its beneficial effect on healthy circulation and the subsequent release of endorphins, contributes to this feeling of euphoria. I never pass up an opportunity to get a cupping session and can’t recommend it enough!” – Jamie Holland, L.Ac., ACN
