Where appropriate, both within the community acupuncture session and nutritional programs, herbal medicine and nutritional supplements will be suggested. Herbal and nutritional medicinals allow our practitioners to expand and deepen their scope of treatment to further benefit patients with acute and chronic health problems such as digestive issues, hormonal imbalance, respiratory issues, female health and fertility, low energy, sleep disorders, emotional health, and so much more.
We have a variety of Chinese and western herbs and nutritional supplements in capsule, tablet, perles, wafer, liquid, powder, and tincture forms, as well as topical applications. All herbs and supplements will be prescribed after a consultation regarding a patient’s current symptoms along with a history of drugs, herbs, supplements and pharmaceutical and over the counter medications and vitamins.
Chinese herbalism contains some of the most effective herbal treatments practiced today. Thousands of years of practical experience and development, combined with modern research has made Chinese herbal medicine the most widely used form of herbalism throughout the world. Our practitioners at Lakewood Community Acupuncture are extensively trained and are nationally board certified herbalist.
As a commitment to our nonprofit community healthcare model, we sell all our herbal medicines and supplements at 25% reduced cost to keep them affordable and accessible. Cost of individual products vary.
Utilizing our vast knowledge of the nutrition of history’s healthiest cultures, combined with emerging research on modern health concerns, we develop personalized nutritional protocols using high quality organic whole-food supplements and practical dietary guidance. No healing is able to take place without proper nutrition, and acupuncture and other modalities of healing are the most successful when combined with nutrition.
The human body is intelligently designed to live and thrive on nutritious whole foods and clean water. This nutritious lifestyle, together with exercise and a positive outlook on life, are what we need to live quality, healthy and energetic lives. However, the standard American diet (SAD) is loaded with processed foods that deplete the natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes and antioxidants found in whole-food. Therefore, supplementation with organic, whole-food vitamins, herbs and minerals are often necessary to achieve optimal health and bring each person to their full potential.
It is important when taking supplemental nutrition to only use organic, whole-food supplements, as synthetic vitamins are not actually the whole vitamin but isolated and incomplete fractions. Only whole-food supplements have the entire range of nutrients, including enzymes, minerals and co-factors, found in nature that allow for proper absorption and utilization by the body.
Some nutritional advice will be given during acupuncture sessions, however, more thorough individualized nutritional evaluations can be booked separately from acupuncture sessions and offer nutritional guidance targeted toward individual health and wellness. Each nutritional plan will be individually created with the patient’s constitution in mind including suggestions for daily dietary changes and programs, as well as herbal and nutritional supplementation.
